If your Wegovy FlexTouch pen suddenly feels stuck or won’t click, it can be frustrating and even a little worrying. The good news is that it’s usually down to something simple, and there are some quick checks you can do to get back on track.
Why is my Wegovy FlexTouch pen jammed?
Most of the time, it’s because all four doses have already been used, the needle isn’t fitted properly, or the pen has been damaged. Let’s take a closer look at the most common reasons and what you can do next.
1. Your Wegovy pen has already delivered all four doses
Each Wegovy FlexTouch pen contains four weekly doses. Once all four have been used, the pen will no longer click or deliver medicine, even if it looks like there’s liquid left inside.
Why does Wegovy medication remain after four doses?
It’s normal to see some liquid remaining inside the pen after the final injection. The liquid you see left in the pen is only there for priming and isn’t meant to be injected as part of your dose.
Trying to inject this liquid won’t deliver the correct amount. Once your pen is finished, it should be recycled through the Novo Nordisk PenCycle scheme where available. If this isn’t possible, dispose of it safely in a sharps bin.
What to do with the extra liquid in the pen?
Dispose of the used pen after four doses, even if there’s visible liquid inside. Always follow your prescriber’s instructions on moving to the next pen.
2. Wegovy FlexTouch needle attachment issues
If the pen won’t click, it could be because the needle hasn’t been attached correctly. Always attach a new needle before every injection, making sure it is screwed on straight and securely.
A blocked or faulty Wegovy FlexTouch needle
If the needle is bent, blocked, or damaged, the medicine may not flow. In this case, remove it and attach a new sterile needle. Never attempt to reuse or unblock a needle.
3. Suspected Wegovy FlexTouch pen malfunction
In rare cases, the pen itself may not work properly. If you’ve attached a new needle and followed the step-by-step guide above but it still doesn’t work, stop using the pen.
At this stage, you’ll need to contact Novo Nordisk Patient Care. Their team can go through troubleshooting with you over the phone. If they believe the pen may be faulty, they’ll provide you with a reference number and arrange for the pen to be collected directly from you for investigation. Novo Nordisk may then contact you with the outcome.
If it turns out to be a simple user error, they’ll explain what to do next and may refer you back to us. Please note that we would not be able replace a pen unless Novo Nordisk has first confirmed it may be faulty. If Novo Nordisk has already been contacted and you still need further assistance, you can then get in touch with us for support.

Step-by-step guide to fixing a jammed Wegovy FlexTouch pen
- Wash and dry your hands
- Attach a new needle securely, following the instructions
- Priming: Only prime the Wegovy FlexTouch pen the first time you use it to ensure the medicine flows correctly. For all later weekly doses, priming is not necessary
- If air bubbles are visible, gently tap the pen so they rise to the top before injection
- Check the flow if instructed—look for a drop of medicine at the needle tip
- If the plunger still feels stuck, replace the needle with a new one
- If medicine leaks around the needle, remove it and attach a fresh one before trying again
- If the pen still won’t deliver, stop using it and see guidance below
