Yes. As your health can vary over time, we like to check in with all new and returning patients to ensure there are no new underlying health concerns that may cause issues with a treatment.
No, you can only place an order for yourself. During the questionnaire stage you’ll be asked to confirm that the item(s) are for your own use, and you’ll be asked personal medical details that are critical in our review of your order.
Phlo Clinic is an independent prescribing treatment service. We are the same team behind the NHS online pharmacy, Phlo Digital Pharmacy.
In addition to servicing our 66,500+ general prescription patients, we want to give patients better access to lifestyle and common condition treatments. We believe the future of healthcare is digital and patients need the option of faster access to on-demand healthcare and prescription medication services.
When you complete your order we’ll ask you to provide your card payment details, but we’ll only take payment when our clinicians approve your items*. This may show on your bank statement as a ‘pending transaction’ and you’ll need to have the funds in your bank account at the time of completing your order.
If our clinicians are unable to approve your order on medical grounds, the transaction will be cancelled at our end and the funds released from the "pending transaction" state.
*On the rare occasion where we’ve not been able to complete your consultation review within 6 days, your order total will leave your account. This usually happens because we’re performing final suitability checks and making sure the treatment requested is right for you (such as information from your GP or we’ve asked you for additional health details). If we then cannot approve your order, the full amount will be automatically refunded back to you.
During the online consultation, we’ll ask you to provide your GP details. If our consultation is approved, we’ll contact your GP and let them know about any treatments you start with Phlo Clinic.
To ensure your clinical safety and the best chance of successful treatment, we ask patients to meet our eligibility requirements for injectable weight loss medications. Self-check your initial eligibility below, but please be aware that meeting these factors doesn’t guarantee automatic approval. Every patient needs to complete a simple to use online consultation form, which is then reviewed by our specialist clinical team.
Initial eligibility criteria:
Between 18 and 75
You have a BMI above 30 or have a BMI above 27 and a weight-related accompanying condition (e.g. high blood pressure or cholesterol amongst others)
You do not have diabetes (or pre-diabetes requiring treatment)
Meet all other clinical criteria subject to your medical history
These are revolutionary injectable treatments proven to help you lose weight. They stimulate hormonal receptors related to energy and appetite, and can help you achieve your weight loss goals when combined with dietary and lifestyle changes
Depending on the treatment you use, they stimulate two different naturally occurring hormonal receptors: glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP).
GLP-1 helps to regulate blood sugar levels, which in turn talks to the brain to make you feel less hungry and prevent cravings. It also slows down the emptying of the stomach to keep you feeling fuller for longer.
GIP regulates energy balance in brain and fat cells, enhancing the GLP-1 effect of suppressing your appetite and improving sugar control.
Wegovy works on GLP-1 alone, whereas Mounjaro combines with GIP to increase the weight loss potential.
Phlo Clinic will offer a range of injectable weight loss medications including Wegovy and Mounjaro. All treatments will be subject to a clinical consultation, your suitability for treatment and will be subject to stock availability and demand.
Weight loss medications are generally considered safe to take alongside many other medications, however there are cases where medications may adversely interact with each other. Each person’s clinical circumstances are different, so it’s always best to consult a clinical expert for an individual assessment. You should always provide a full and honest medical history alongside a note of any prescription and non-prescription medications you’re taking.
These weight loss medications are approved for use by the MHRA, the UK government department responsible for ensuring that medicines and medical devices work and are safe.
Your treatment will be supervised by our qualified pharmacists and clinical team at all times. If you experience any side effects or changes in overall health, you must let us know so we can ensure your safe health & wellbeing.
Like all medicines, some people may experience side effects when taking weight loss medications. It’s important to understand which side effects you may experience and what the likelihood of experiencing them is.
It’s important to add that not everyone will experience side effects, and if you don’t, that doesn’t mean that your medication isn’t working. Many people experience a successful weight loss journey with no side effects.
Explore the full list of possible side effects in the Patient Information Leaflet that comes with the medication.
Most users say they can barely feel the needle when they inject! The key to this (and a seamless injection experience) is to follow the detailed step-by-step instructions that will come with your selected weight loss pen.
Make sure you read our What to do before you inject article before you get started. It’s then important to thoroughly read the injection instructions and follow all the key steps; right from preparation, to injecting, and finally to post-injection.
Prices will start from around £129 per month; including your medication, at-home delivery and the supportive oversight of our clinical team. As your plan progresses and your monthly dosage increases, the monthly price may also increase.
If your treatment is followed correctly and you adopt lifestyle changes (healthier eating and exercise) you can lose up to 15% to 20% of your bodyweight in a 17-month period. Results are dependent on the treatment you choose, as clinical studies show varying results per treatment type.
Our clinical team will check in regularly with you via email to see how you are progressing with treatment. Towards the end of your first month, you will receive reminder emails with instructions on how to re-order your next dose. You will be directed to a shorter clinical consultation designed to assess how you are getting on with your treatment and whether or not you need a dosage adjustment. You can also log in to your Morrisons Clinic account and re-order this way should you choose. For optimal results, we encourage patients to take a long term view of this treatment on a monthly basis until you reach your weight loss goal.
The active ingredient in Wegovy is Semaglutide. Semaglutide belongs to a class of GLP-1 medications which contributes to reducing hunger pangs, slowing gastric emptying, and increasing insulin production. The active ingredient in Mounjaro is Tirzepatide. This has a similar effect; decreasing food intake and slowing gastric emptying.
